Angela Jupe

Angela first trained as an architect, then in 1984 studied garden design with John Brookes.

Angela specialises in designing large country gardens and unusual garden buildings. She dislikes the current trend among country dwellers of enclosing their gardens totally and cutting off the outside views. "Ireland has a wonderfully varied landscape with great views towards hills, woods, fields and sea - not forgetting the farm animals!

My aim when I design is to bring the countryside back into the garden, to borrow surrounding views and to link the garden plants with the countryside planting."

She likes to use natural materials such as stone, brick, wood and especially architectural salvage! The layouts are structured and then filled in a loose relaxed way with the best perennials, masses of bulbs and beautiful trees.
