Peter O'Brien

Based in North Wicklow, Peter is a craftsman / designer working mainly in the Leinster area. Water features strongly in his designs. "I see it as an almost essential element in any garden, providing movement and sound, while drawing on it's reflective qualities to bring light to even the most shaded courtyard."

Peter sees his design style as being architectural rather than horticultural, with an emphasis on strong, bold lines, using the planting to enhance this style and then to clothe and soften the design. He favours architectural plants and looks for good form, texture, movement and colour from his planting. "Where possible, the plants should be massed into large blocks, using a small number of species for high impact, but with that essential sense of calmness found in the best of garden design."
